A fantastic place to relax for a few days, absolutely quiet and, above all: we had it all to ourselves! Luckily the owner, Anchen and her son Derek, happened to be visiting from South Africa, and we had lots of interesting exchanges. Also the manager of fish Eagle Lodge, Camille from Congo, had lots of stories to share. He was an expert in African politics and we never got tired of listening to his eye-opening analysis.
Our activities were reduced to walking up and down the beach, chatting with locals now and then and having our photo taken with young men and throngs of children eager to pose. Great photo ops were fishermen getting their nets ready or bringing in their catch, very tiny silvery fish, so small it would disappear in a child’s hand when they picked it up. The lake is also where locals do the laundry and young boys learn how to handle a dug out.
We cannot remember staying in a place so tranquil and relaxing, with nothing but white sand sparkling in front of our bungalow.
